Cones cones cones .......

It took a lot of work by our lead coach team and particularly our level 2 coach Frank, our head coach and many others but we did it! We managed to adapt our normal operating procedures & emergency operating procedures in line with government and SLSGB guidance and got our operational plan approved! Hoorah! The flip side is that we can only work with a very limited number of the older kids. After all, those procedures have to be strictly implemented including social distancing and reliance on our own lifeguards (RNLI not patrolling). This means we had no option but to decide to only get back into operations with the two groups of older kids.

And it looks and feels a little strange, kids standing at their own cone with their own numbered board, spraying & cleaning of board, adjusted sign-in procedures, a first aid section with cones, COVID officers at a cone, cones everywhere! You start wondering if Frank has a hidden love for cones!

And of course...it was already September by the time we got back on the beach so we only have a few sessions before the end of the beach season. But we're getting our year 10s and 11s back into shape, (somewhat) ready for (maybe) winter training and (hopefully) next summer season. We may even be able to qualify some of them as lifeguards! So, don't give up and know that our lovely team is working really REALLY hard to keep our club open and look at getting the littlies involved as soon as reasonably practicable. Stay safe!
